WHAT IS IT?
A high fat, high protein and very low carbohydrate diet targeting weight loss. The diet is based on the amount of carbohydrates you're allowed to consume in a day. It allows an unrestricted amounts of meat, cheese and eggs, but on the other hand firmly restricting carbohydrates such as; sugar, bread, pasta, milk, fruit and vegetables (MedicineNet, para 2). It consists of 4 phases which slowly increase the amount of carbohydrates you're allowed to consume based off the wight loss. (Dr Jockers, 2018)
Foods to eat:
- Meats, e.g. beef, pork, chicken, bacon
- Fatty fish and seafood
- Eggs
- Low carb vegetables, e.g. kale, spinach, broccoli, asparagus
- Full fat dairy
- Nuts and seeds
- Healthy fats, e.g. avocado, olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil

- sugar
- grains
- “low fat” foods
- high carb vegetable, e.g. carrot, potatoes, turnips
- high carb fruits, e.g. banana, apples, oranges, pears, grapes
- legumes
- trans fats
